About us
具志堅建築設計事務所は、「沖縄の暮らしを楽しく、心地よく」をデザインしている設計事務所です。
個人住宅、集合住宅、学校、庁舎、病院、福祉施設、ホテル、店舗など、
様々な用途・規模の、建築や空間の、設計・監理を行なっています。
1958年創業以来、地元沖縄の住まい、都市環境の向上に尽力してきました。
沖縄で暮らし、働き、学び、遊ぶ人たちの毎日が、
ワクワク楽しくなるような空間づくりを目指しています。
建築設計歴 60 年以上の経験と実績で、高い品質と信頼を提供し、
一緒に、夢や想いをカタチにするお手伝いをしています。
Gushiken Architectural Engineering (GAE) is a Multi-Disciplinary Design Practice delivering all types of projects shaping our built environments. Established in 1958, our ethnically diverse family at GAE now has three offices allowing us to service our clients in various parts of the world. We pride ourselves in providing creative, quality solutions, collaborating with our client and consultant teams to be effective stewards of each unique project and its surrounding community.

株式会社具志堅建築設計事務所は、２０２３年で６5周年を迎えることができました。
共に切磋琢磨してきた事務所メンバー、そして彼らをサポートしてくれているご家族の皆さま、一緒に仕事をしてきた各業者様、クライアント様、そして地元沖縄の皆さまのサポートに大変感謝しております。
１９５８年３月、まだアメリカ政府の統治下にあった沖縄で、地元沖縄の復興と発展を願い、「具志堅工務店」は創業されました。当時は、創業者である具志堅博と５名のスタッフで始まり、様々な困難もありましたが、地元沖縄を始め、本土、そして海外へと展開し、民間、公共など、数多くの設計プロジェクトを手掛けてきました。現在は、 ７０名以上のメンバーが在籍し、プロジェクトの用途・規模を問わず、高い品質を提供できる力をつけてまいりました。
また、グローバル化が進む現代、技術者として、海外とも積極的にコミュニケーションをとり、最新技術に敏感である必要性が以前にも増して高まってきていると感じています。私自身、１９８０年代（３０代後半の頃）、アフリカに２年滞在した際に、海外エンジニアたちと、英語で仕事をし、海外の技術を学んだり、日本の技術を教えたりと、技術者としてとても成長できた覚えがあります。以来、地元沖縄の若い技術者にも、英語と技術を同時に学べる環境を作りたいという想いがあり、これまで海外プロジェクトにも積極的に参加してきました。
わたしたち具志堅建築設計事務所では、優秀な海外技術者をたくさん採用し、ハワイの設計事務所とのコラボレーションにも積極的に取り組んでいます。なので、沖縄メンバーは、ブロークンイングリッシュを使い、彼らとコミュニケーションを取るのに必死です。しかし、こうして、英語と技術を同時に磨き、みんなでグローバル社会に慣れていくことで、常に視野を広くもち、沖縄だけではなく、海外でも活躍できる技術者に育ってほしいと願っています。
これからも、沖縄をはじめ、世界でお役に立てるよう、メンバー一丸となって頑張っていきます。
2023 marked our 65th anniversary of serving our communities.
I really want to thank our members and their family, all the consultants and clients, and all the people in Okinawa who have been supporting our company and mission.
Gushiken Architectural Engineering (GAE) Co., Ltd. was founded in March, 1958 by my father, Hiroshi Gushiken and with a staff of five. There were times when we had to overcome many difficulties, but we found opportunities to expand our experience from Okinawa to the mainland of Japan and overseas. We have designed and built a diverse range of projects such as commercial, residential, government as well as projects abroad. Today, we are fortunate to have more than 70 members who engage in projects of all types and scales.
Additionally, our staff make-up reflects our global project reach, with employees from areas such as Argentina, Peru and Philippines. These members often share with us news about the growth in their home countries, and we look at their insight as opportunities to learn and grow in the future as well. While making the most of our experiences, we will always be flexible in approach, enriching our global understanding to assist our community in Okinawa and around the world.

Today, Okinawa’s culture and unique attributes fascinates people around the world.
Our information based society and globalization are rapidly spreading. We look at how our ancestors thrived, and find ways to adapt our skillsets to succeed.
We are inspired by their spirit: Always opening our eyes to the world, learning and growing in our own unique way. We will contribute to the homeland (local) and likewise look to be a model for the world (global).
